Coimbra has two train stations:

Coimbra A (Estação Nova): located in the city centre.
Coimbra B (Estação Velha): located in the outskirts of Coimbra.

Some trains arrive at Coimbra B train station. You need to get off and take a connection train to Coimbra A (this short trip is already included in your train ticket fare) to get to the city centre.

Directions to Convento de São Francisco

Convento de São Francisco is located in the south of Coimbra, on Avenida da Guarda Inglesa, in Santa Clara, next to Portugal dos Pequenitos.

By train

Exit at Coimbra-A station, take Av. Emídio Navarro towards Portagem. Cross the Santa Clara Bridge and go straight ahead on Av. John of the Rules. At its limit, in front, you will find Convento de São Francisco.

By car
For those traveling to Coimbra on the A1, exit at Coimbra Sul, taking the expressway towards the city. At the first roundabout, exit at Coimbra Norte and take the right lane towards Santa Clara. Afterwards, head towards Coimbra Centro, along Avenida da Guarda Inglesa, where you will find the Convent of São Francisco at the southern limit, on the right.

For those traveling on the A13, exit at Coimbra, following the N17. At the first roundabout, continue along the N17. At the second roundabout, head towards the IC3/N17 (3rd exit). Cross the Rainha Santa Isabel bridge. At the Lages roundabout, go straight ahead towards Santa Clara, on Av. John of the Rules. At its limit, in front, you will find the São Francisco Convent.

For those traveling on the IP3, exit at Coimbra, following the IC2 towards Coimbra/Lisbon. At the roundabout, take the Coimbra Norte exit and take the right lane towards Santa Clara. Afterwards, head towards Coimbra Centro, along Avenida da Guarda Inglesa, where you will find the São Francisco Convent on the south end, on the right.
